    Cards of Sin - K. J. Dahlen
When Reporter Cheyenne Gentry gets an Instant Message she tries to ignore it, but the sender is adamant. He wants her to know he murdered someone tonight. Cheyenne thinks it’s a hoax until he tells her who he killed, a Congressman Howard Betts. He left the body on the steps of the House of Congress. The killer tells her he wants her to write his story but Cheyenne wants nothing to do with the story or the killer.
When Cheyenne confirms Howard Betts is dead she calls a friend Detective Vincent Baily.  She tells him what the killer told her. Vincent reports the murder to his Captain and Cheyenne tells them that unless she plays his game he will murder someone she’s close to. The only contact she has is through her instant message.
The next day they find another body- that of Senator Steve Hargrove. Steve was having an affair with Howard’s wife and now they are both dead. Cheyenne can’t write the story the killer wants and she tells him so but the killer insists, and to get her on board he tells her a friend of hers has paid the price. Later he sends her another picture and a message, He will continue to kill until she agrees to write his story.
Cheyenne knows she has no choice. The killer wants the world to know why he’s killing but she can’t write it the way he wants. He’s given the world no proof of any crimes these people have committed. When she asks him for a name he gives her the name Wesley.
Cheyenne puts a story about Wesley on the AP and in the middle of the night the police get a phone call from a man named Wesley Price. When Cheyenne and her friend Vincent and FBI agent Sawyer Grace go to see Wesley in New York they find a broken man. He tells them of the man who broke him. His man is Roger Coyton and everything he tells them brings them more information on the killer.
When they get back to Washington they find reports coming in about similar unsolved murders going back twenty years from different places along the Eastern coast. Each of the murders have the same signature- a playing card was found on the body. Wesley’s father Ben comes to see them and tells them the rest of the story behind the assault on Wesley and the reason why Roger became what he did.
They get a phone call from Virginia about another murder and Cheyenne, Vincent and Sawyer go there to collect the little evidence he left behind. When they get there Sheriff Dan Hitchens tells them a story of the murder they had there twelve years ago. When Cheyenne shows him a picture of their killer he confirms that it’s the same man.
They take back the evidence the killer left behind and find yet another victim waiting for them. With this new information they begin a timeline and the reports are coming in quickly. Then the killer murders a cop. He has evidence that the cop is dirty but it isn’t true. His partner tells them the dead cop just received an inheritance. Looking over the crime scene evidence Sawyer finds something that tells him who the killer really is.
Knowing who the killer is without having the proof they need to verify it frustrates them. Then Roger kidnaps Vincent and tortures him. They get to him before he’s murder but later in the hospital Roger takes Cheyenne hostage in order to get away.
He takes her to an underground shack, part of Washington’s history and after she bandages his wound he knocks her out and leaves. Where he’s going they figure out is New York to finish what he started twenty years ago.
Cheyenne figures he’s going back to murder the one man he failed to kill twenty years ago. When they get there they go to see Wesley but Wesley tells them Roger probably is at the fort they had as children. It’s on the top of the building they lived in as children. When they get there Roger is there, he’s lost his grip on reality and thinks he can wipe out twenty years of murder and mayhem by asking Wesley to forgive him.
Instead Wesley seeks revenge and in a final act he takes them both over the edge of the roof.
A year later, Cheyenne comes back to New York. She wrote Roger’s story and published her book. It’s become a best seller and she used the royalties to make Wesley’s dream come true. He wanted to open a school to train dogs for the blind.

Into the Red - Kelly Whitley

Human blood is an illicit and highly addictive drug--if you're a vampire. Known as Red, its side effects are insanity, and eventual death. A group of Red-addicted vampires known as Poisoners are killing women as part of an extortion plot involving a lost ancient vampiric tome, and they’re leaving a trail of bodies in their wake. The discovery of each new victim risks exposure of the entire vampire race to humans. Then one victim survives…
Dr. Evan Nichols, oncologist and vampire, lives a monk-like existence, by his own choice, focusing on patient care and research to benefit his vampire brethren. It’s been twenty-five years since his world turned upside down—the night he lost his fiancee and discovered his hidden vampire heritage. Now his government has ordered him to take a mate—or they’ll choose one for him. It’s a horrible prospect, and one that might push him over the edge—until Fate throws him together with a human female.
Wary of relationships, Tara West has poured her energies into work and inventing cutting edge climbing equipment. She doesn’t like the gorgeous Dr. Nichols, yet finds herself unaccountably drawn to him.
When a crazed vampire attacks and poisons Tara, Evan rescues her. With time running out, he has to create an antidote to the poison before he loses his chance at love.
In order to make the vaccine which might cure her, he has to find the bastards who poisoned her and take their venom—before they die of their addiction. If he doesn’t reach them in time, saving her will be impossible.
Thus the journey begins—into the Red!

Dr. Von Thistle's Curious Concoction - K. G. Wehner
It’s October 1958. Eleven-year-old Amy wakes from a nightmare with the constant sound of pounding drums in her head. Her cousin Tracy hears them, too. They are the only ones who can.

When famed scientist Dr. Sven Von Thistle arrives on the evening of their mothers’ annual gala, the drumming mysteriously stops. There’s something sinister about the mystery potion Dr. Von Thistle carries in his trench coat pocket. Amy fears he wants to kidnap them. Tracy thinks she’s making a big deal out of nothing. What would a famous scientist want with ordinary ol’ them?

But Amy and Tracy are anything but ordinary. The girls are gifted with special skills, including higher-than-average intelligence, and they can read each other’s minds.

Amy’s nightmare seems to be coming true after all. Can they escape the evil scientist once and for all, or

might they be trapped in different time periods separated from each other forever?

Author’s Note:
When my sister and I were four and five respectively, we morphed into characters we named Amy and Tracy, even invented their history. Thanks to our mother allowing us to watch a movie where a person is swallowed by quicksand, Tracy’s mother met the same fate. Amy’s mother died from a heart attack walking in a forest. The motherless girls were sent to an orphanage and adopted by abusive parents. Finally, after being returned to the orphanage for noncompliance, both girls found a home with two rich sisters who lived together in a mansion. (Years later my mother admitted feeling concerned that we killed off our characters’ mothers and pretended that their adopted mothers treated them cruelly. She was relieved to know we didn’t need therapy.)
Since my sister and I were not up on American history as youngsters, we placed Amy and Tracy in the 1400’s, living in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania (much to my Cousin Helen’s amusement). Their fathers were Vikings, we decided. That’s why they were never around. (No wonder their mothers were rich…all the pilfered gold and jewels!)
Of course, when I wrote my book many years later, I had to be historically accurate. I decided to use the year 1958. That way the characters could travel back or forward in time, and I could sneak a little history into the storyline. Other than that, I tried to keep the story as organic and honest to our childhood stories as possible.

He’s the reason she’s in distress--a British highwayman, and a minor noble with

The longer Emma stays in Connor’s time, the more she’s drawn to him and drawn into his troubles. She and Connor find themselves struggling to stay one step ahead of the Captain and his corrupt Commander and keep Connor and his roguish cousins from the hangman’s noose. The Substitute - James Hatch

The Substitute – Paranormal Comedy by Solstice Publishing: The novel is the first of a trilogy of comedies (The Substitute; Oh, Heavens, Miss Havana! and The Training Bra). The novel offers a hilarious romp through the final days of Miss Havana’s life, her trials in purgatory and her afterlife with Lucifer. Witty and spicy, it leaves readers in tears of laughter. Excerpts from all novels are posted at http://cookinwithmisshavana.blogspot.com/. Please stop by!

Miss Havana’s public persona was far from the truth because, in her capacity as substitute teacher, the small community where she lived knew her as the breathtakingly beautiful young woman who demanded every student learn, but in her private life, ostensibly caring for aging parents in Chicago, she raced through the lives of powerful men, leaving a wake of destruction…and a deep desire for revenge. Little did she realize her conflicted life would end in a chaotic death at an early age, and to eternal conflict with the devil. The surprise ending will leave the reader stunned and gasping for more.

Confessions of a Teenage Hermaphrodite - Lianne Simon
Endorsed by a leading researcher of Disorders of Sex Development, Confessions of a Teenage Hermaphrodite is an unusual coming-of-age story, an authentic portrayal of the issues faced by an intersex teen.

Jameson was born with a testis, an ovary, and a pixie face. What was between his legs left the doctors guessing at his sex. Assigned male, it soon became apparent that Jamie considered herself a girl. After some resistance, her parents allowed her to live as one. When she was nine, however, authorities discovered that the boy Jameson was being illegally home schooled. The family scrambled to find a doctor willing to help correct the child's birth certificate, but meanwhile Jameson had to return to living as a boy.

All it would take to make Jameson a boy would be minor surgery and a few years on testosterone. Well that's what his parents always say, but he sees an elfin princess in the mirror. To become the man everyone expects, Jameson must put behind him the hopes and dreams of a little girl.

At sixteen, the four-foot-eleven soprano leaves home for a boys' dorm at college. The elfin princess can live in the books Jameson reads and nobody has to find out he isn't like other boys. But then a medical student tells Jamie he should have been raised female. Suppressed childhood memories stir and Jamie begins a perilous journey to adulthood.
